Emma Kapteyn (she/they) is based in Chicago, Illinois. Her early training took place at Grand Rapids Ballet and West Michigan Youth Ballet. Her final year of high school, she moved to Chicago to enhance her training at Ballet Chicago. Currently, she dances with the Studio Company at Ballet Chicago, and teaches ballet, pointe, and Pilates in the school.

Emma began her college education at University of Utah, initiating a BFA in Ballet. During this time, she had the opportunity to take classes such as Choreography/Improvisation, Music Theory, Kinesiology, and more. She then moved back to Chicago, where she continued her studies at DePaul University, receiving a BA in Philosophy in June 2023.

During her time at Ballet Chicago,  she was able to revisit her choreographic ambitions during Ballet Chicago’s annual fall show, DanceVision, in 2021 and 2022. She most recently worked with Neville Dance Theatre in New York City in October of 2023.

She is eager to continue to explore her choreographic ideas and develop her connection with fellow dancers around the world.
